Can You Delimit the Avinox M2 and M2S? The Honest 2026 Answer

Short answer: not with our chip. If you're searching whether you can derestrict the DJI Avinox M2 or M2S, we want to be straight with you before you spend anything: our wheel sender fits the Avinox M1 only. It does not work on the M2 or the M2S. Plenty of pages online will tell you the method "carries over" between generations. We sell the product, we've tested it, and we're telling you it doesn't.

Why the M2 and M2S are a different problem

DJI introduced the M2 and M2S in April 2026, and they are not a facelifted M1. The internals changed — including the gear design and the sealing arrangement — and the newer units are a genuinely different generation of drive unit rather than the same motor with new software.

That matters because a wheel sender is a physical part that has to interface correctly with a specific speed-sensor arrangement. "Same principle" is not the same thing as "same part fits." Until we have tested a sender on an M2 and M2S ourselves, we will not sell you one and claim it works.

How to tell which motor you actually have

This is where most people get caught out: the motor is decided by model year, not by model name. The same bike can ship with an M1 one year and an M2S the next.

So what are your options on an M2 or M2S?

Honestly: fewer than the internet suggests. App-based and region-based workarounds tend to be closed off by firmware updates, and we're not going to recommend a method we haven't verified on the newer motors. If someone is selling you a chip today that claims to cover M1, M2 and M2S in one part, ask them which model years they have physically tested.

If you do have an M1

Our Avinox M1 delimiter is a clip-on wheel sender. No firmware is flashed and nothing is cut — it comes back off with a hex key, so the bike returns to stock whenever you need it to. If it turns out not to fit your model, send us a photo and we refund you the same day without you posting it back.

• Assistance continues past the factory cutoff, so the motor keeps helping where it would normally taper off.
• Your speedometer will read lower than your true speed, because the system is being fed a reduced wheel reading. Factor that into range estimates.
• It does not increase motor power. It changes when assistance stops, not the motor's output. For power and torque figures, check DJI's official specs for your unit.

The honest part: legality and use

A derestricted Avinox is for private land and off-road use only. We can't and won't claim it's road-legal. In the EU, an e-bike whose assistance continues past the 25 km/h limit is generally no longer classed as a pedelec for public-road purposes, which can affect registration, insurance, type-approval and your manufacturer warranty. Rules vary across Spain and the wider EU — check what applies where you ride, and be honest with yourself about where you'll actually use it.

Is M2S tuning the same as M1?

No. The M2 and M2S are a different motor generation and our M1 sender does not fit them.

Will you have an M2 or M2S product?

We'll say so publicly if and when we've tested one. Until then we'd rather lose the sale than sell you a part that doesn't work.

Can I switch the M1 chip back to stock?

Yes. Removing the sender returns the bike to factory behaviour, which is useful before a service visit.
