Is It Legal to Delimit an e-Bike? Avinox Derestriction Explained

Is it legal to delimit an e-bike?

Delimiting — removing the speed limiter — changes how your e-bike is classified. A standard pedal-assist e-bike is capped at 25 km/h in the EU and 15.5 mph in the UK. Once you derestrict it, it no longer meets that definition.

What that means on public roads

On public roads, a delimited e-bike is generally treated like a moped or motorcycle, which can mean registration, insurance, licensing and type-approval requirements. Riding a derestricted bike on the road without those can carry penalties.

The safe way to enjoy a tuned Avinox

Use it on private property or off-road only, where public-road speed rules do not apply. Always check your local regulations and your warranty position first.
