How to Delimit a DJI Avinox e-Bike (M1, M2 & M2S): Full Tuning Guide
Share
What does it mean to "delimit" an Avinox e-bike?
DJI's Avinox drive system ships with an electronic speed limiter — assistance cuts off at the legal e-bike limit (25 km/h in the EU/UK). To delimit an Avinox (also called derestricting or tuning) means removing that cap so the motor keeps assisting past the factory limit, giving you the full performance the M1, M2 and M2S are capable of.
Is delimiting an Avinox legal?
Once you delimit an e-bike, it no longer meets the legal definition of a pedal-assist bicycle. On public roads in most of Europe and the UK a derestricted e-bike is treated like a moped or motorcycle and is subject to registration, insurance, licensing and type-approval rules. For that reason a delimited Avinox should be ridden on private property or off-road only. Always check your local regulations and your bike's warranty position before tuning.
Ways to delimit a DJI Avinox motor
1. Speed wheel sender / chip — the easiest method
A wheel-sender chip clips onto the wheel and adjusts the speed signal the motor reads, so it keeps assisting past the limiter. It installs in minutes, needs no tools, no app and no firmware changes, and it is fully reversible — clip it off and the bike is back to stock. This is the simplest and safest way to tune an Avinox M1, M2 or M2S.
2. Firmware / app-based tuning
Software-based derestriction changes the motor's settings directly. It can work, but it touches the firmware, may be detectable, and carries more risk to the drive system and warranty. Most riders prefer a removable chip for this reason.
How to delimit an Avinox M1, M2 & M2S — step by step
- Confirm your drive system (Avinox M1, M2 or M2S) and that your build is standard.
- Position the wheel-sender chip on the wheel as per the fitting guide.
- Secure it so it sits cleanly without fouling the rotor or caliper.
- Power on the bike and confirm the display reads correctly.
- Test on private land, building up speed gradually.
The whole process takes about two minutes and leaves no permanent modification.
Avinox delimit FAQ
Does it work on the Avinox M2S? Yes — a wheel-sender chip works across the Avinox M1, M2 and M2S motors, including Amflow PL e-bikes.
Is it reversible? Yes. A clip-on chip can be removed at any time to return the bike to its factory state.
Will it throw an error code? Fitted correctly, the motor reads a valid speed signal and runs normally.
How fast will it go? That depends on the bike, but the cap is removed so you get the motor's full assisted range — on private land only.
